Key takeaways

  • You can buy crypto with Apple Pay in 3 main ways: the Fomo app (meme coins in one step), the Phantom wallet (fund Cash, then swap) and Coinbase (coins that Coinbase lists).
  • Fomo buys a token directly with Apple Pay through Crossmint, up to 2,500 USD per day; the limit resets at 12 AM EST (Fomo help center, July 2026).
  • Prepaid cards, gift cards, Apple Cash and virtual cards fail on Fomo; Venmo, Zelle and PayPal are not accepted either. Use a bank-issued card in Apple Wallet.
  • Fomo charges 0.50% plus network fees on EVM chains; on Solana the fee depends on the trade size (2% from 5 to 47.50 USDC) and Fomo pays the gas. Code Iocke gives 10% off at signup.
  • Before any Apple Pay buy, get the app from the official store, start with an amount you can lose in full, and check the fee on the confirm screen.

To buy crypto with Apple Pay, you need an app that takes Apple Pay and a bank-issued card in your Apple Wallet. For meme coins, the easiest way is the Fomo app: you pick a token and pay with Apple Pay in one step, up to 2,500 USD per day. Phantom and Coinbase also take Apple Pay, with one extra step or a shorter coin list.

Path 1: the easiest way, the Fomo app

Fomo is a memecoin trading app for iPhone and Android. You sign in with your Apple ID or Google account, so there is no password and no seed phrase to write down, and Fomo pays the gas on Solana trades. Fomo said in June 2026 that more than 68,000 people had bought crypto for the first time with Apple Pay in its app (Fomo blog (opens in a new tab)).

Fomo has two Apple Pay routes, according to its deposit guide (opens in a new tab):

  • Buy a token directly: the Apple Pay option on the Deposit screen buys one token that you choose. Crossmint handles this payment, and the limit is 2,500 USD per day, reset at 12 AM EST (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)).
  • Add to your cash balance: on the Debit Card screen, you can switch to Apple Pay and pay with the card in your Apple Wallet. The money lands as USDC in your cash balance, and you trade from there.

Fomo added an Apple Pay onramp through Coinbase in January 2026 (Fomo blog (opens in a new tab)). You do not need a Coinbase account to pay with Apple Pay; only the separate Pay with Coinbase option uses your Coinbase balance (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)).

How to buy a meme coin with Apple Pay on Fomo

  1. 1

    Get the official app

Download Fomo by FOMO Labs Inc. from the App Store or Google Play. Fake apps copy the name, so check the developer.
  2. 2

Sign up with the referral code

Sign in with Apple or Google and enter code Iocke (capital I) on the signup screen. It gives 10% off trading fees, and you cannot add it later (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)).
  3. 3

    Open Apple Pay

Go to your profile, tap the three dots next to your cash balance, then Deposit more, then Apple Pay (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)).
  4. 4

Choose the token and the amount

Pick a token from the list and enter the amount. Compare the token with its contract address from an official source first.
  5. 5

Confirm with Face ID or Touch ID

Check the amount and the fee, then authorize the payment.

How to buy Solana with Apple Pay on Fomo

To buy SOL, add money to your cash balance with Apple Pay on the Debit Card screen, then buy SOL in the Crypto tab. Major tokens there cost 0.05% per trade, with a minimum fee on small trades (Fomo fees (opens in a new tab)).

Cards and methods that do not work on Fomo

Fomo accepts bank-issued cards. These fail or are not accepted (Fomo help (opens in a new tab), card deposit help (opens in a new tab)):

  • Prepaid cards and gift cards
  • Apple Cash and virtual cards, also inside Apple Pay
  • Cash App Card, Venmo, Zelle and PayPal on the card method

The methods that you see depend on your region and your account. If Apple Pay is not available in your country, deposit USDC from an exchange instead.

Path 2: the Phantom wallet

Phantom is a self-custody wallet for Solana, Ethereum, Base and other chains. You hold your own seed phrase, which gives you full control and full responsibility. Apple Pay does not buy a coin directly in Phantom: it adds money to your Cash balance as CASH, a USD-pegged stablecoin, and then you buy SOL or a token with it (Phantom Cash guide (opens in a new tab)).

  1. 1

Create a wallet and save the seed phrase

Install Phantom from phantom.com or the official store listing. Write the recovery phrase down offline, never in a screenshot.
  2. 2

    Tap Add Cash

In the mobile app, tap +, then Add Cash, and choose Apple Pay. Apple Pay, Google Pay, a debit card or a bank account are offered depending on the provider.
  3. 3

    Review the provider and fees

Enter the amount and tap Review. The screen shows the provider and its fees. Stripe funding needs a one-time ID check and works in the US (except New York) and the EU; other providers, such as MoonPay, depend on your region (Phantom funding guide (opens in a new tab)).
  4. 4

Swap Cash for SOL or a token

Swap your Cash balance into SOL or a meme coin. Phantom charges 0.85% on most swaps, plus the network fee.

Read our Phantom wallet review for the full fees and its safety record. We earn nothing from Phantom.

Other option: Coinbase

Coinbase also sells crypto with Apple Pay. Its help center (opens in a new tab) says that Apple Pay needs a Visa or Mastercard debit card in your Apple Wallet. In the US, you can buy with Apple Pay but not sell or cash out to it. Coinbase lists some large meme coins, but not most new launches. We have no affiliate deal with Coinbase.

Small Solana buys on Fomo cost the most in percent: a 20 USDC buy pays 2%, which is 0.40 USDC. From 190 USDC, the fee drops to 0.50%.

Why an Apple Pay crypto purchase fails

Fomo’s help center lists five common causes for a declined Apple Pay buy (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)):

  1. Wrong card type: Apple Cash, prepaid and virtual cards are declined. Add a bank-issued card to Apple Wallet.
  2. Your bank blocks crypto: some banks block crypto purchases by default. Call your bank.
  3. Daily limit: direct token buys stop at 2,500 USD per day. Wait for the reset at 12 AM EST.
  4. Too many attempts: wait at least one hour before you try again.
  5. Region: if the message names your country, Apple Pay is not available there. Deposit USDC from an exchange that works in your country.

Safety checklist before you buy crypto with Apple Pay

  1. Official app only: install Fomo, Phantom or Coinbase from the App Store, Google Play or the official site. Our official links page lists the real addresses.
  2. Start small: make your first buy an amount you can lose in full.
  3. Contract address first: compare the token with its contract address from an official source. Fake coins copy names and tickers.
  4. Check the fee on the confirm screen: small Solana trades on Fomo cost up to 2%. Look at the total before you confirm.
  5. Protect your keys: never share a seed phrase or a private key, also not with someone who says they are support.
  6. Use the real referral code: the Fomo discount is 10%, applied at signup. Codes that promise 25% to 100% off are fake. See our Fomo referral code page.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Do not use Apple Cash or a prepaid card. Fomo and its payment providers decline them, and many failed attempts in a short time make you wait an hour.
  • Do not skip the code at signup. Fomo has no field to add a referral code later.
  • Do not buy a coin from a hype post. Check the contract address, the holders and the liquidity first, as our how to buy meme coins guide shows.
  • Do not send USDC on the wrong network. When you move funds between apps, choose the same network on both sides.
  • Do not split a small budget into many tiny trades. On Solana, trades from 5 to 47.50 USDC pay 2% on Fomo.

Bottom line

For most beginners, the Fomo app is the easiest way to buy crypto with Apple Pay: you pick a meme coin and pay in one step, up to 2,500 USD a day, with no seed phrase. Phantom fits when you want a wallet you fully control, and Coinbase fits large listed coins. Read the Fomo review for fees and safety, then compare more apps in our best memecoin trading platforms list.
