Key takeaways

  • The Fomo wallet is a non-custodial wallet made by Privy when you sign up with Apple or Google. You get 2 addresses: one for Solana and one EVM address for the 6 other chains.
  • Export your Fomo private key at Profile, Settings, Account, Export, or at fomo.family/export-key. You get a Solana key and an EVM key. Fomo cannot import a wallet that you already have.
  • To move to Phantom, import the matching key there. It opens the same wallet in a second app, so you do not send any funds.
  • Fomo credits USDC on 6 networks. The minimum that credits is 15 USDC on Ethereum and 0.50 on Base, BNB Chain, Monad and Robinhood Chain; Solana has none.

The Fomo wallet is the non-custodial wallet that the Fomo app makes for you when you sign up with Apple or Google. It has 2 addresses, one for Solana and one EVM address, and you can export both private keys to use them in Phantom or another wallet. For fees, chains and safety, read our Fomo app review.

How the Fomo wallet works

Fomo’s terms (opens in a new tab) say that Privy, a wallet infrastructure company, makes and manages your wallet. It is a self-custody wallet: the Fomo help center (opens in a new tab) says the key is split into shares, so nobody at Fomo can move your funds. There is no seed phrase to write down. Your Apple ID or Google account is the login, and a different login makes a new account with new wallets (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)).

On EVM chains the address is an ERC-4337 smart wallet, according to Fomo’s wallet architecture post (opens in a new tab). Both addresses are under Profile, Settings, Account.

How to export your Fomo private key and move to Phantom

You cannot import an old wallet into Fomo (Fomo help (opens in a new tab)). The other direction works: you export the Fomo key and open the same wallet in Phantom.

  1. 1

    Open the export screen

In the app, go to Profile, then Settings, then Account, then Export, or open fomo.family/export-key. If you turned on Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint, the app asks for it first.
  2. 2

    Copy the matching key

Copy the Solana key for Solana tokens, or the EVM key for the 6 EVM chains. Each key controls only its own address.
  3. 3

    Import the key into Phantom

In Phantom, import the key from the welcome screen, or add it as an extra account (Phantom help (opens in a new tab)). You see the same balance, because it is the same wallet.

Our guide to exporting a private key compares the steps in other apps.

Wrong network and minimum deposits

Fomo credits USDC on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad and Ethereum, USDG on Robinhood Chain, and USDT. A small deposit under the minimum stays at your address until a top-up on the same network passes the line.

Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Robinhood Chain0.50
Ethereum15 USDC (can change)

USDC sent to your own EVM address on a network that Fomo does not read, such as Arbitrum or Polygon, is still yours. Export the EVM key, import it into a wallet that supports that network, add a little gas token, then bridge to USDC on Base. It then shows in Fomo on its own (Fomo recovery guide (opens in a new tab)). Funds sent to an address that you do not control cannot be recovered.

Bottom line

Your Fomo wallet is a Privy wallet that you own, with one Solana address and one EVM address. Export the keys at Profile, Settings, Account, Export to use the same wallet in Phantom, and check the network before every deposit. For the rest of the app, read our Fomo app review.
