Key takeaways
- To set a BasedBot take profit or stop loss, open the token in the bot monitor, turn TP or SL on, set the trigger % and set the % of the position to sell. The default sell is 100%.
- The BasedBot trailing stop loss follows the highest price and sells after a drop of your set %: with a 20% trail, a token that runs from $1 to $2 sells if it falls back to $1.60.
- Type /orders to edit or cancel a TP/SL or limit order. BasedBot limit orders trigger on a market-cap target, not on a % move from your buy price.

To set a BasedBot take profit and stop loss, open the token in the bot’s monitor, turn TP or SL on, set the trigger % and set how much of the position to sell. The bot then sells for you when the price moves that far from your buy price, and /orders lets you edit or cancel the order. New to the bot? Start with our BasedBot tutorial. Fees and safety are in the BasedBot review.
Step by step
Steps checked October 14, 2026 against the official docs. Locke has traded on BasedBot for months, but the labels below come from the docs, not from memory.
- 1
Open the token monitor
Paste the token’s contract address in the bot chat (Buying Tokens (opens in a new tab)), or type /manage and tap the token (Managing your tokens (opens in a new tab)). No automation buttons? Show Automations under /settings, Monitor (Settings (opens in a new tab)). - 2
Turn TP or SL on
In the automations part of the monitor, tap the Take Profit or Stop Loss button. Green means on, red means off (Buying Tokens (opens in a new tab)). - 3
Set the trigger percentage
The second button sets the trigger. A TP at +50% sells when the price is 50% above your buy price; an SL at −30% sells when it is 30% below (Take Profit / Stop Loss (opens in a new tab), Buying Tokens (opens in a new tab)). - 4
Choose how much to sell
The last button sets the share of your bag to sell. The default is 100%; lower it to sell only part (Take Profit / Stop Loss (opens in a new tab)). - 5
Check, edit or cancel the order
Type /orders. Tap any order to edit its parameters or cancel it (Managing your orders (opens in a new tab)). On the position screen, Orders, then Add Order, also adds a TP or SL (Managing your tokens (opens in a new tab)).
Our link uses code START, which doubles your cashback to 10–50% of fees (our partner terms with BasedBot). Locke works with BasedBot; it is scored with the same methodology. Code terms are on the BasedBot referral code page.

| Order | Triggers when | Where to set it |
|---|---|---|
| Take profit / stop loss | The price moves your set % from your buy price | Token monitor, or Orders, then Add Order |
| Trailing stop loss | The price drops your set % from its highest point | /settings, Auto-Order Template (Trailing SL row); for one position, check in app |
| Limit sell | The market cap rises to or above your target | Orders, then Add Order, then Limit Sell |

- Trailing stop example: you buy at $1.00 with a 20% trail. The price rises to $2.00, so the stop moves to $1.60. A drop to $1.60 sells, with a 60% gain instead of break-even.
- Several take profits: the sell % counts your balance when the order triggers, not your first buy. The settings docs (opens in a new tab) give the example of a first TP that sells 90% and a second TP at 100% that sells the rest.
- Limit orders run once: a BasedBot limit order uses a market-cap target, and a limit sell sells 1–100% of your holdings. After it executes, the bot notifies you and removes it (Limit Orders (opens in a new tab)).
- Fees: each automated sell is a transaction, and BasedBot charges 1% on each transaction (Platform fees (opens in a new tab)).
- Archived wallets lose their orders: archiving a wallet cancels its TP/SL and limit orders for good. After you unarchive it, set them again (Managing wallets (opens in a new tab)).
Better tool for this task
GMGN is better if you want a trailing take profit. It waits until the price hits your profit target, then sells when the price falls back by your set % (GMGN Trailing Take Profit (opens in a new tab)). The BasedBot docs describe a trailing stop loss, not a trailing take profit. The catch: TP/SL orders from the GMGN Telegram bot stay valid for 24 hours only (GMGN Auto Sell (opens in a new tab)). Read the GMGN review.
Bottom line
A BasedBot take profit or stop loss is three buttons on the token monitor: the on switch, the trigger % and the sell %. Check the order in /orders after you set it. Add a trailing stop loss to keep gains on a fast runner, and use a limit sell when you think in market cap.
