To use BasedBot, open @based_eth_bot in Telegram, type /start, create or import a wallet, send ETH or SOL to it and paste a token's contract address to buy. Every trade costs 1%, and 5–25% of that fee comes back as cashback, or 10–50% if you start the bot with code START.

This guide follows the official BasedBot docs (opens in a new tab) and Locke's own trading on the bot. Commands and menu names can change; if a button looks different, check the docs page linked in each section.

What you need before you start

  • Telegram on your phone or computer. BasedBot is a Telegram trading bot; there is also a web app at basedbot.app.
  • Crypto to deposit: ETH (for Ethereum, Base and Arbitrum), SOL (for Solana) or BNB (for BSC). Other chains use their own coin, such as AVAX on Avalanche. Start with an amount you can lose in full.
  • A safe place for your private key: paper or an offline password manager. Never a screenshot in the cloud, never a chat.

BasedBot trades on 16 networks in its supported networks list (opens in a new tab), including Ethereum, Base, BSC, Solana, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Abstract and HyperEVM. The bot detects the chain from the address you paste, so you do not pick the network first, per the multi-chain page (opens in a new tab).

Step 1: open the bot and create your wallet

  1. 1

Open BasedBot from an official link

Use the button below or basedbot.app/r/START. The link applies code START, which doubles your cashback. Codes attach when you first start the bot, so do this before you type /start. The official bot handle is @based_eth_bot, per the setup guide (opens in a new tab). Fake bots copy the name, so check our official links.
  2. 2

    Type /start

The main menu opens with your wallet, balances and the trading buttons.
  3. 3

    Create or import a wallet

Tap Wallet or type /wallet. Tap an empty slot, then "Create a new wallet", or "Import a wallet" and enter the private key of a wallet you already control, as the wallet guide (opens in a new tab) explains.
  4. 4

    Back up the private key

The bot docs have no export step. To see the key, log in to the web app at basedbot.app with Telegram (it uses the same wallet as the bot), open Portfolio and use Export Key in the wallets panel, per the Portfolio page (opens in a new tab). Write the key down offline.
  5. 5

    Set your preferred wallet

If you have more than one wallet, choose the default one in /settings › Preferred Wallet.
Open BasedBot with code START (opens in a new tab)

BasedBot is self-custody: the safety page (opens in a new tab) says only you can see your key and that the bot stores it hashed, not in clear text.

Step 2: deposit funds

  1. In the main menu, tap your wallet address to copy it.
  2. Send ETH, SOL or BNB to that address from an exchange or another wallet. Use the correct network for the coin.
  3. Keep a little extra of the native coin for network fees, so you can still sell later.

Wrong chain? Type /bridge to move native coins between chains (pick source, destination, amount, then Confirm). The bridge moves native currencies only, per the bridge guide (opens in a new tab).

Step 3: make your first buy

  1. 1

    Paste the contract address

Copy the token's contract address from the project's official X account or website, then paste it in the chat. The token monitor opens with price, chart and safety buttons.
  2. 2

    Run a safety check

Tap Audit for a contract analysis that shows buy and sell taxes, burn and max-transaction limits, as the Audit page (opens in a new tab) describes. Read our rug pull guide for the red flags.
  3. 3

Check slippage, price impact and gas

On the monitor, adjust Slip (slippage), Impact (price impact) and Gas. Leave Pro Mode off until you know what it skips: it turns off price-impact protection on EVM buys.
  4. 4

    Tap a buy amount

Tap a preset amount, or "Buy X ETH" / "Buy X SOL" for a custom one, as the buying guide (opens in a new tab) shows. Change the presets later in /settings.
  5. 5

Add a take profit or stop loss

Turn TP or SL on in the monitor (green is on), set the target % and the % of the position to sell. The TP/SL page (opens in a new tab) also covers the trailing stop loss.

Optional: Quick Buy. In /settings, set Quick Buy to Enabled and choose an amount. After that, a pasted contract address buys at once, without the monitor. Turn it on only when you know your settings.

Step 4: sell and manage your positions

  1. Type /manage or tap Sell & Manage.
  2. Tap a token to see net profit, net worth, initial value and balance.
  3. Tap a sell button, or X% for a custom percentage.
  4. Optional: tap Trade report for a shareable PnL card.

The ❌ button hides a position; it does not sell it. To show it again, open /settings › Hidden. Source: managing your tokens (opens in a new tab).

How to set up limit orders, DCA, copy trading and MEV protection

All automations live in the same bot. You see and edit open orders in /orders (tap an order to Edit or Cancel).

A few rules from the docs that new users often miss:

  • Limit orders use market cap, not price. Set the target as a market cap. The order fires once and then disappears.
  • Copy trading has separate buy and sell switches per network, and a Percentage Mode or Exact Amount Mode for the size.
  • MEV protection is not on Solana in the bot. The settings page lists it for ETH, BASE and BSC. It lowers the risk of a sandwich attack on those chains.
  • Turbo removes all safety nets. It is a sniping option that skips slippage, price impact, simulation and token checks, per the transaction speed page (opens in a new tab).

BasedBot fees and cashback

BasedBot charges 1% on each transaction, with no hidden fees and no fee when you do not trade, according to the platform fees page (opens in a new tab). Part of the fee comes back as cashback, based on your total trading volume across all chains:

TierVolumeCashbackWith code START
X1 Novice$0 – $9995%10%
X2 Advanced$1,000 – $9,99910%20%
X3 Pro$10,000 – $99,99915%30%
X4 Elite$100,000 – $999,99920%40%
X5 Legend$1,000,000+25%50%

Sources: tiers from the rewards page (opens in a new tab); the double cashback with code START comes from our partner terms with BasedBot. The effective fee is 0.75–0.95% without the code and 0.5–0.9% with it.

  • Claim: type /cashback when you have $10 or more on a chain. You get paid in that chain's native coin.
  • Tiers upgrade automatically. No staking is necessary.
  • Your own referral link: type /referral. You earn a share of the fees of people you refer.

The code details and how to apply it are on the BasedBot referral code page.

Telegram bot or web app?

Both use the same wallet when you log in to basedbot.app with Telegram, per the web app login page (opens in a new tab). The web app adds a TradingView chart, a token discovery table, a portfolio with realized PnL and up to 9 charts on one screen. Careful: if you log in with a browser wallet instead of Telegram, that is a separate account, and your settings, referral code and cashback tier do not carry over.

Alternatives to BasedBot

BasedBot is the main path in this guide, but it is not the only good bot.

  • Trojan: a Telegram bot and web terminal for Solana spot trading, also 1% with SOL cashback. See BasedBot vs Trojan.
  • Axiom: a Solana-first web terminal with fees from 0.95% down to 0.75% by volume tier. See the Axiom review.

Troubleshooting

  • The bot is slow or does not answer: the docs list a secondary Rescue Bot (opens in a new tab) for lags.
  • Wrong menu language: change it in /settings. The bot offers English, Chinese, Turkish, German and Indonesian.
  • You need help: use the official support channel listed on the support page (opens in a new tab). Ignore anyone who DMs you first.

Changelog

  • 2026-10-12: first version published.
