Why it's #1

BasedBot is the only Telegram trading bot here that we traded on ourselves, and buys confirmed in under one second on average in our tests. How a Telegram trading bot works

A Telegram trading bot is a chat bot that holds a wallet and trades for you. You send it a token address, it shows the token and a buy button, and it signs the swap on chain.

  1. 1

    The bot creates a wallet

When you press Start, the bot creates a wallet for you, or lets you import your own. The bot keeps the key on its servers so it can sign trades without a pop-up. This makes the bot fast, but the wallet is a hot wallet.
  2. 2

    You fund the wallet

You send SOL, ETH or BNB to the wallet address that the bot shows. Send a small amount first and check that it arrives on the correct network.
  3. 3

You paste a token address and buy

The bot quotes the token and buys at the size you choose. Most bots add limit orders, take profit, stop loss, DCA, copy trading and sniping on new launches.
  4. 4

You pay a fee on each trade

BasedBot, Trojan and GMGN take 1% of each trade. Network fees, priority fees and MEV tips are extra. Cashback programs pay part of the 1% back.
  5. 5

You export the key or withdraw

With BasedBot and Trojan you can export the private key and move the wallet into Phantom or another app. With GMGN you cannot export the key: you withdraw on the website with 2FA and a whitelist address.

How to choose a Telegram trading bot

1. Key export first

If the bot lets you export the private key, you can take your funds out even if the bot goes down. BasedBot and Trojan allow it; the Trojan bot wallet docs show where. GMGN's wallet docs say export is prohibited on all chains.

2. Real fee after cashback

The headline fee is 1% on all three bots. The real cost depends on cashback. BasedBot pays 10–50% back with our link, so you pay 0.5–0.9%. The Trojan bot FAQ says all bot users get 20% cashback, so about 0.8%. GMGN publishes no discount for new users. Compare codes on the BasedBot referral code, Trojan referral code and GMGN referral code pages.

3. Chains you really trade

If you trade only Solana memecoins and pump.fun launches, any of the three works. If you also trade on Base, BNB Chain or Ethereum, one multi-chain bot keeps your funds in fewer places. BasedBot covers 8+ chains in one bot. GMGN uses a separate official bot per chain. Trojan is Solana only.

4. Bot only, or bot plus web terminal

All three have a web app too: basedbot.app, trojan.com and gmgn.ai. Use the web app to find tokens on large charts and the bot to act fast on your phone. For a terminal-first workflow, see our best memecoin trading platforms list, which includes Axiom.

5. Safety record

  • BasedBot: we found no hack or loss of user funds since the 2025 launch. Its track record is shorter than older bots.
  • Trojan: we found no public report of a hack of Trojan itself. The 2023 Unibot router exploit hit the Ethereum product before the team split.
  • GMGN: in October 2025, sandwich attacks hit 729 trades on its BNB Chain anti-MEV nodes, and GMGN said it reimbursed the users (cryptonews.net).

Telegram bot safety: fake bots and key theft

Many losses with Telegram bots do not come from a hack of the bot. They come from a fake bot, a fake support account, or a private key pasted into the wrong app.

  • Fake bots and impersonators. Scammers copy the name and avatar of popular bots and change one letter in the handle. Open a bot only from its official website or docs. GMGN publishes its full list of official bot handles, and the Trojan bot FAQ tells you to confirm that you use the official bot link. Our official links page collects the verified links in one place.
  • Fake admins. Real teams do not message you first. The GMGN safety tips say its admins never send the first message.
  • Key reuse. In March 2024, wallet drains took about 2,808 SOL from 302 victims. BONKbot said the 113 victims who had used its bot had all exported their keys and imported them into another app, according to Decrypt. Do not import a bot key into an app you have not checked.
  • Bot-level drains happen too. In September 2024, users of the Banana Gun Telegram bot lost an estimated $1.9 million in Ether, according to Cointelegraph. This is why you keep only trading money in a bot wallet.
