Our verdict
Score4.7/5
Is it safe? Yes for the app: we score its safety 5/5. The Privy wallet is self-custodial, so pump.fun cannot access or freeze your funds, and we found no 2026 hack. The score does not cover the coins: most fail, so trade only money you can lose.

Best for: Phone traders who want the most fun, most social way to find and trade new memecoins
Key takeaways
- The pump.fun app is our Best overall memecoin app and has the highest score on the site (4.7/5): the most fun and most social way to find and trade new memecoins on your phone. Locke trades on it every day.
- App trades pay a 0.45% Platform Fee, or 0.40% with code lockein, on top of the 1.25% bonding-curve fee: 1.65% in total with the code (pump.fun Fees page, 17 Oct 2026).
- App safety scores 5/5: a self-custodial Privy wallet that pump.fun cannot access or freeze, sign-in with email, Google or Apple, and no hack found in 2026. The score rates the app, not the coins: most coins fail.
- New app users who type code lockein before their first card deposit can get up to $50 matched if they trade on 5 days within 10 days, while the budget lasts (not in the UK).
- For daily desktop or Telegram trading with automation on 18 chains, BasedBot is #2 on the site (4.6/5) and our Best for pros pick. Locke works with BasedBot; it is scored with the same methodology.

- Flat 0.40% app fee with code lockein (0.45% without), shown as its own line before you confirm

What we don’t like
- A trade on the bonding curve costs 1.65% in total with a code (1.25% curve fee plus the 0.40% app fee)
- Most pump.fun coins never graduate, and the feed is busy with callers who promote their own coins
- Some app store reviews report a lag between tap and fill on busy coins
- No bank cash-out in the app: you withdraw SOL or USDC to an exchange, and key export is not documented on an official page
- Not available in the UK, Russia or sanctioned countries; 18+ only
Our pump.fun review in short: the pump.fun app is the best overall memecoin app for phone traders, and we rate it 4.7/5 after hands-on trading, the highest score on the site. It is the most fun and most social way to find a new coin and trade it, with a self-custodial wallet and card deposits. A trade on the bonding curve costs 1.65% with code lockein, and most coins on it fail.
Pump.fun in one paragraph
Pump.fun is a Solana memecoin launchpad, and the pump.fun app puts it on iPhone and Android. You see trends as they form, follow callers and friends, and buy a coin in a few taps. Pump’s products made about $65 million in revenue in the 30 days to 23 October 2026, according to DefiLlama (opens in a new tab).
The app is our Best overall pick because it is the most fun and most social app we tested, and it is easy to start. It also has the highest score on the site, 4.7/5 on our five weighted criteria. BasedBot (4.6/5) is #2 and our Best for pros pick, with the highest execution score; Locke works with BasedBot, and it is scored with the same methodology. Our pump.fun guide explains the launchpad itself.
The app has improved a lot. At launch in February 2025, it had 2.5 stars on iOS and 2.1 on Google Play, and users said trades were hard to land (Blockworks (opens in a new tab)). On 24 October 2026, it had 4.7 stars from about 4,000 US App Store ratings and 4.4 stars on Google Play, with 500K+ downloads.
Fees
Every trade in the pump.fun app pays two fees: the pool fee and a Platform Fee. The Platform Fee is 0.45%, or 0.40% with a referral code such as lockein, and it shows as its own line before you confirm, according to the pump.fun Fees page (opens in a new tab) (last updated 17 October 2026).
| What you do | Pool fee | App Platform Fee | Total with code lockein |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buy or sell on the bonding curve | 1.25% (0.95% protocol, 0.30% creator) | 0.40% (0.45% without a code) | 1.65% |
| Trade a graduated coin on PumpSwap, small market cap | 1.25% | 0.40% | 1.65% |
| Trade a graduated coin on PumpSwap, 98,240 SOL market cap and up | 0.30% | 0.40% | 0.70% |
| Create a coin | No platform fee, only Solana network costs | Charged on your first buy | — |
| Coin graduates to PumpSwap | 0.015 SOL per coin | — | — |
| Perps on Hyperliquid | Up to 0.10% builder fee, plus Hyperliquid fees | No Platform Fee | — |
Sources: pump.fun Fees page (opens in a new tab), checked 2026-10-24. PumpSwap fees fall step by step from 1.25% to 0.30% as the market cap grows.
- Worked example: a $100 buy on the bonding curve costs $1.65 with code lockein and $1.70 without it. A $1,000 buy costs $16.50 with the code and $17.00 without it. Solana network fees and slippage come on top.
- Compared with Fomo: Fomo charges 0.50%, or 0.45% with a code, and 2% on Solana trades from 5 to 47.50 USDC (Fomo review). The pump.fun app fee is a flat percentage at every size on the Fees page.
- No Platform Fee elsewhere: pump.fun’s Terminal, third-party bots and perps do not pay it. Our pump.fun fees guide has every tier.

New app users get a second perk with the code. If you type lockein in the app before your first card deposit, you can get up to $50 matched, paid in parts when you trade on 5 days within 10 days, while the program budget lasts (Referral Rewards terms (opens in a new tab)). Crypto transfers in do not count, and the program is not open in the UK.

Safety and incidents
We score the pump.fun app 5/5 for safety. The score rates the app and its wallet, not the coins you buy. The wallet is a self-custodial Privy wallet, and the App Store listing (opens in a new tab) says pump.fun cannot access or freeze your funds. You sign in with email, Apple or Google, the app has 4.7 stars on the App Store and 4.4 on Google Play, and we found no hack of pump.fun in 2026.
The coins are a different matter, and a 5/5 app score does not make any coin safe. Most coins never reach PumpSwap: The Block measured graduation rates from 2.5% to 6.7% in July 2026 (The Block (opens in a new tab)). The table below also lists the May 2024 insider exploit, after which pump.fun upgraded its contracts.
| Date | What happened | Source |
|---|---|---|
| May 2024 | A former employee used his access to drain about $2 million from the bonding-curve contracts. Pump.fun paused trading and upgraded the contracts. | Decrypt (opens in a new tab) |
| Sep 2026 | Apple removed the app from the US and India App Stores on about 10 September 2026. Existing installs and funds were not affected. On 24 Oct 2026 the app is listed again in both stores. | Protos (opens in a new tab), App Store |
| 2026 | We found no hack or exploit of pump.fun in 2026 (searched 24 October 2026). | — |
- Private key: pump.fun asks for a private key in one place only, the Link email & socials dialog when you are signed in. It never asks in a DM, an email or on X (pump.fun (opens in a new tab)).
- Key export: we found no official page that shows how to export your key from the app. Check in the app before you deposit a large amount.
- Who can use it: you must be 18 or older. Pump.fun is not available in the UK, Russia, Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk or Luhansk (terms (opens in a new tab)).
- Court case: pump.fun faces an open US class action lawsuit; its claims are allegations, not court findings (The Block (opens in a new tab)).

Hands-on: what we tested
Locke trades on the pump.fun app every day, and he finds it fast and fun. The app makes a new trend easy to see and easy to trade: you open a coin from the feed, a caller or a friend, and buy it from the same screen. Trading feels like a social game, and that is the main reason it is our Best overall pick.
- Sign-up: you sign in with email, Google or Apple. Pump.fun retired browser-wallet sign-in on the web on 25 September 2026, and one login now covers the web and the app (pump.fun (opens in a new tab)).
- Deposits: you add money by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through MoonPay (MoonPay (opens in a new tab)), or you send SOL, USDC and other crypto to your app wallet (pump.fun help (opens in a new tab)).
- Fees on screen: the Platform Fee shows as its own line before you confirm, so you see the cost of each trade.
- Execution: in Locke’s daily trades the app is fast. Some Google Play and App Store reviews report a lag between tap and fill on busy coins, so we score execution 4/5, not 5.
We do not publish trade timings or profit figures from these tests. For a step-by-step walkthrough, read our pump.fun app tutorial.

Where other tools are better
- Daily trading on desktop or Telegram: BasedBot is #2 on the site and our Best for pros pick (4.6/5). It adds limit orders, take-profit and stop-loss, copy trading and snipers on 18 chains, in a Telegram bot and a web terminal, at 1% per trade. Locke works with BasedBot; it is scored with the same methodology.
- First memecoin buy with US bank withdrawals: Fomo is our Best for beginners pick (3.8/5). It trades on 7 chains from one balance and cashes out to US bank accounts.
- A pro terminal with no Platform Fee: pump.fun’s own Terminal, formerly Padre, pays no app Platform Fee. See the Padre review.
