BasedBot
Our pickBest for: Traders who want one Telegram bot on their phone for 18 chains, plus a web terminal
4.6/5
1% fee with 10–50% cashback through our link. Self-custody with key export. You fund it with crypto.
Why it’s #1
BasedBot runs as a Telegram bot, so you can trade on 18 chains from your phone, and it also has a web trading terminal. It is self-custody with private key export, and we found no hack or loss of user funds since its 2025 launch. The fee is 1%, but our link gives 10–50% cashback (our partner terms), so new traders pay 0.9% and the fee drops to 0.5% from $1,000,000 of total volume. Locke works with BasedBot; it is scored with the same methodology.
What we like
- 18 chains in one Telegram bot and web trading terminal, including Base, Solana, BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum and Avalanche
- Full automation set: limit orders, TP/SL with a trailing stop, dev sell, DCA, copy trading, social copy trading and three sniper types
What we don’t like
- The 1% base fee is the market standard, and a new trader gets only 5% of it back (10% with code START)
- In the Telegram bot, MEV protection covers only Ethereum, Base and BSC, and the classic Sniper works only on EVM chains
- Trading fee
- 1%
Double cashback (10–50% of fees instead of 5–25%) · Referral code: START

What we don’t like

- Trading fee
- 1%

4.0/5

How a memecoin trading app works
A memecoin app gives you a wallet, a way to fund it and a buy button. The wallet holds your coins on the blockchain, and you control it with a private key or a seed phrase.
- 1
Install the app or open the bot
Download the app from the App Store or Google Play, or open the Telegram bot from its official link. Check the developer name or the bot handle first. - 2
Create the wallet and save the key
The app creates a wallet for you. Export the key or write down the seed phrase, and store it offline. - 3
Add money
Pay with Apple Pay or a card where the app allows it (Fomo, Phantom), or send crypto from an exchange to the wallet address. - 4
Find the token and buy
Search the token or paste its contract address, check the fee on the confirm screen, and buy. - 5
Sell and cash out
Sell in the same app, then withdraw to an exchange or, where the app allows it, to a bank.
Our guide to buying meme coins shows the full first buy, step by step.
How to choose a memecoin app as a beginner
Four questions decide which app fits you. Answer them before you download anything.
1. Can you fund it with a card or Apple Pay?
If you have no crypto yet, this is the most important question. Fomo takes Apple Pay, a bank-issued debit card, Pay with Coinbase or USDC, according to its deposit guide (opens in a new tab); prepaid, virtual and gift cards are not accepted. Phantom adds cash with Apple Pay, Google Pay, a debit card or a bank account, depending on the provider in your region.
The Telegram bots (BasedBot, Trojan, BONKbot) need crypto first: you buy SOL or ETH on an exchange and send it to the bot wallet. Best on this criterion: Fomo, where you pay and buy in one app (Fomo review).
2. Can you take your key out?
All six apps let you export your private key or seed phrase. That matters because you can move your coins to another wallet if an app fails or closes.
Fomo has no seed phrase to write down: Privy creates the wallet, and the terms (opens in a new tab) say you can export your private keys. Phantom and Solflare give you a seed phrase at setup. In the bots, you export the key from the wallet settings. Best on this criterion: BasedBot, which also lets you import your own wallet (BasedBot review).
3. What do small trades cost?
Beginners often trade small amounts, and some fees hurt more on small trades. Fomo charges 0.50% per trade, but on Solana its lowest-fee route has minimums: 0.10 USDC under 5 USDC, 2% from 5 to 47.50 USDC, 0.95 USDC flat up to 190 USDC, and 0.50% from 190 USDC, per its fee page (opens in a new tab). Fomo pays the Solana gas. On EVM chains you pay 0.50% plus network fees, and majors in the Crypto tab cost 0.05%.
Our code Iocke gives 10% off Fomo trading fees, but only on the signup screen (Fomo referral rules (opens in a new tab)). Phantom charges 0.85% on most swaps. BasedBot, Trojan and BONKbot charge 1%, and network fees are extra. Best on this criterion for trades above 190 USDC: Fomo, at 0.45% with our code (Fomo referral code).
4. Where can you cash out?
Check the exit before you deposit. Fomo withdraws to a bank only for US bank accounts, through Spritz with an ID check and a 5 USD minimum, according to its withdrawal guide (opens in a new tab). Outside the US, you withdraw USDC to a wallet or an exchange.
Phantom’s Cash account withdraws to a US bank (except New York); elsewhere you send crypto to an exchange and sell there. The Telegram bots withdraw crypto only. Read how to withdraw from the Fomo app for the steps.
Phone app or Telegram bot?
Pick a phone app if you have no crypto yet and want to pay with Apple Pay or a card. Fomo and Phantom work like a normal finance app: you install it, sign in and see your balance on one screen. Solflare is a wallet app for Solana users who already hold SOL.
Pick a Telegram bot if you already hold crypto and want more trading tools. A Telegram trading bot such as BasedBot, Trojan or BONKbot runs inside Telegram on your phone: you paste a token address and buy with buttons. The bots add limit orders, and BasedBot and Trojan also offer copy trading and a web terminal for larger charts.
Both kinds work on a phone. The difference is the first deposit: an app can take your card, and a bot needs crypto that you already own.
Best memecoin app by use case
Many traders start on Fomo and move to a bot later. When you want limit orders, take-profit and stop-loss orders, sniping or more chains, BasedBot is the next step: it covers 18 chains from one Telegram bot. Fomo spot trades are market swaps, and Fomo has no Telegram bot and no copy trading; you follow traders and trade by hand.
Beginner safety checklist
Run these checks before your first deposit, on any app.
- Official source: download apps only from the App Store, Google Play or our official links. Fomo’s developer is FOMO Labs Inc.; other apps also use the name.
- Key saved offline: export the private key or write down the seed phrase, and store it on paper. Never type it into a site or share it with “support”.
- Small first deposit: start with an amount you can lose. Most memecoins fail, and the app cannot undo a bad buy.
- Contract address checked: compare the token address with the project’s official X account or website before you buy. Read how rug pulls work.
- Fee checked on the confirm screen: small Solana trades on Fomo cost up to 2%, and every app shows the fee before you confirm.
- Exit known: check where you can cash out (Fomo bank withdrawals are US-only) and the age rule (18+ on Fomo).
- Fake codes ignored: Fomo’s real referral discount is 10%. Codes that promise 25% to 100% off are fake.
Incidents on this list: in August 2026, an X account alleged about $6M in losses from Fomo’s iOS app. Fomo denied it, and Protos (opens in a new tab) found no independent proof; see is the Fomo app legit. In March 2024, about 2,808 SOL was drained from 302 wallets; BONKbot said the affected users had imported their exported keys into another app. We found no hack of BasedBot, Trojan, Phantom or Solflare themselves.
What we left out and why
- Banana Gun: its Telegram bots are built for sniping new launches, not for a first buy. Read the Banana Gun review.
- Maestro: it keeps your keys AES-encrypted on its servers. Read the Maestro review.
- GMGN: its docs do not allow private key export.
- Axiom, Photon and Padre (Terminal): they are web terminals for desktop trading. Padre has a mobile web app, but it copies the desktop terminal.
- The pump.fun app and Moonshot: we have not published a review yet, so they have no score. See our pump.fun guide.

For your first memecoin, Fomo is the easiest start: Apple Pay, sign-in with Apple or Google, no seed phrase, and 0.45% per trade with code Iocke.
