Key takeaways
- Solflare is a non-custodial Solana wallet: Solflare says no one at the company can see or retrieve your recovery phrase.
- Solflare swaps route through Jupiter with 0.5% default slippage; Solflare does not publish a swap fee percentage, so check the quote in the app.
- Solflare Perps run on Phoenix Trade: 65+ markets, up to 25x leverage, USDC collateral that stays in your wallet, blocked for US and UK retail.
- Solflare Bridge (July 2026) takes deposits from 8 chains, including Base, Ethereum and Bitcoin, at 1% for most assets and 0.1% for stablecoins.
- We found no hack of Solflare itself; in the August 2022 Solana wallet drain, traced to the Slope wallet, Solflare told TechCrunch it was not affected.
Our verdict
Is it safe? Yes, for a hot wallet. Solflare is non-custodial, warns you about risky approvals before you sign, and we found no hack of Solflare itself; we found no published audit of the core wallet.
Best for: Solana memecoin traders who want a self-custody wallet with Jupiter swaps, in-wallet perps and strong hardware wallet support

- No sniping, copy trading or auto-sell tools like a trading bot
- Solflare Card paused in July 2026 after the card issuer wound down

Our Solflare wallet review in short: Solflare is a non-custodial Solana wallet with Jupiter swaps, scam guards, in-wallet perps and strong Ledger support. It is safe for a hot wallet: we found no hack of Solflare itself. We rate it 3.8/5 after hands-on trading, and we earn nothing from Solflare.
Solflare wallet in one paragraph
Solflare is a self-custody wallet for Solana, released in 2020 according to CryptoSlate. Its website (opens in a new tab) claims more than 4 million active users and offers a browser extension, a mobile app and a desktop web wallet. You can swap tokens, stake SOL, trade perps, buy crypto in the app and connect a hardware wallet. According to CryptoSlate (opens in a new tab), the wallet software comes from Solrise Finance Ltd, with a British Virgin Islands address; FF News (opens in a new tab) names Vidor Gencel as co-founder and co-CEO. Solflare is Solana-only. For memecoins, that covers pump.fun and most new launches.
Fees
| Action | Solflare fee | Other costs |
|---|---|---|
| Token swap (Jupiter route) | Check in app | Solana network fee, optional priority fee |
| Perps trade | Check in app | Network fees: none at launch, per the perps guide (opens in a new tab) |
| Bridge deposit, most assets | 1% | Source chain network fee |
| Bridge deposit, stablecoins | 0.1% | Source chain network fee |
- Swaps: the swap help article (opens in a new tab) says Solflare routes swaps through the Jupiter aggregator, sets slippage to 0.5% by default and asks you to keep at least 0.05 SOL for fees. It does not give a Solflare fee percentage, and third-party reviews disagree. Read the quote before you confirm.
- Bridge: the July 2026 launch coverage in FF News (opens in a new tab) lists 1% for most assets and 0.1% for stablecoins.
- Compare totals: use our fee calculator. For reference, Phantom lists a 0.85% swap fee.
Safety and incidents
- Custody: Solflare's security page (opens in a new tab) says Solflare is a non-custodial Solana wallet, and that no one at Solflare can see or retrieve your recovery phrase. Support cannot restore a lost seed phrase.
- Guards: the same page says Solflare Guards inspect every transaction, blacklists block known scam sites, and Solflare warns you about spending approvals before you sign.
- Hardware wallets: Solflare supports Ledger on desktop over USB (Ledger guide (opens in a new tab)), and a Ledger Nano X connects directly to the mobile app (Ledger troubleshooting (opens in a new tab)). CryptoSlate also documents Keystone support through a QR flow. Solflare sells its own Shield hardware wallet, from $49 on its website.
- Audits and bug bounty: CryptoSlate (opens in a new tab) found only a 2023 Consensys Diligence audit of Solflare's MetaMask Snap, which excluded the wallet itself. We found no public bug bounty.
- If you get drained: Solflare's help article on compromised wallets (opens in a new tab) tells you to stop using the wallet, revoke app permissions and create a new wallet with a new recovery phrase. Solflare cannot recover stolen funds.
Incidents we found:
- Slope drain (August 2022): thousands of Solana wallets were drained. Early reports named Solflare, but Solflare told TechCrunch (opens in a new tab) that it was not affected. Solana developers later traced the cause to the Slope wallet, as The Block (opens in a new tab) reported.
- MetaMask Snap ended (May 2026): Solflare ended Solana support in its MetaMask Snap on 11 May 2026. Its migration article (opens in a new tab) tells Snap users to import the same recovery phrase into the Solflare app.
- Solflare Card paused (July 2026): on 28 July 2026, Solflare paused its card after the issuer Kulipa wound down, according to SpendNode (opens in a new tab). The card spent USDC from your own wallet, so balances stayed in user wallets. Solflare said it is integrating a new card issuer; we found no confirmation that the replacement card is live, so check in app for its status.
What this means for you: we found no hack of Solflare's own systems. Most losses come from phishing, fake sites and approvals you did not read. Use a Ledger or Shield for larger amounts.
Features for memecoin traders
- Swaps: buy and sell any Solana token through Jupiter routing, with adjustable slippage.
- Perps: the perps guide (opens in a new tab) describes leveraged long and short positions on Phoenix Trade, with USDC from your wallet, isolated margin and market orders with optional take profit and stop loss. Solana Compass (opens in a new tab) reported 65+ markets and up to 25x leverage at launch in August 2026. US and UK retail users are blocked.
- Bridge: permanent deposit addresses on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Tron, NEAR and Base. The funds arrive as Solana assets. It is one-way funding, not multi-chain support.
- Staking: stake SOL from the wallet.
- Other: NFT tools, in-app crypto purchase and 24/7 live chat support.
Where other tools are better
- More chains: if you hold tokens on Base or Ethereum, Phantom covers more networks in one wallet.
- Sniping and auto-sell: we found no sniping, copy trading or auto-sell rules in Solflare's help center. A Telegram bot such as Trojan or BasedBot does this. Locke works with BasedBot; it is scored with the same methodology. See the BasedBot review and our sniper bots ranking.
- A full web terminal: Axiom and GMGN have more discovery, tracking and limit order tools.
- The simplest first buy: if you want to pay by card in one app, see the Fomo review.
Many traders use both: Solflare as the safe home wallet, and a trading terminal or bot for fast trades. See how to buy memecoins and the best memecoin trading platforms.
